Welcome to the Argoulets de Verdun
Founded in 2015, the Argoulets de Verdun club's mission is to introduce handball to kids and adults from Verdun, LaSalle and Montreal's South-West, in an environment where fun, respect and team spirit are at the heart of every activity.

Our philosophy
For our youngest players, our priority is not winning, but developing a love of sport and self-confidence. We want every player to progress at their own pace, discover the joy of playing as a team, and look forward to coming back to every practice.

Why "Argoulets"?
Our club's name is deeply rooted in the history of Verdun.
In 1665, to protect Ville-Marie, governor Paul de Chomedey de Maisonneuve set up an outpost near the Sault-Saint-Louis rapids. Seven brave settlers agreed to move in, build their homes and defend one another. From their presence came the name Côte-des-Argoulets.
Back then, the word "argoulet" referred to an arquebusier — an excellent marksman known for his skill and courage.
When our club was founded in 2015, the name was an obvious choice. The seven Argoulets echo the seven players who make up a handball team on the court: one goalkeeper and six court players. Beyond this fitting coincidence, the name evokes values that resemble ours: courage, precision, solidarity and team spirit.
By carrying the name Argoulets de Verdun, we are proud to honour our neighbourhood's history while passing these values on to new generations.
